This Term we will begin reading in our groups in class and take our books home!
Books will come home on a Monday and to be returned to class every day along
with their red learning bag and their key words and phonics homework. Within class
we will be revising the difficult two letter phonic sounds and word building to help
us sound out words. We will also continue story mapping, re-telling stories, changing
characters and setting from stories we have learnt.

In Numeracy P1 will be focussing on addition followed by subtraction. The children
will be learning a variety of addition strategies, and language. Allowing them to
problem solve and answer questions in a way best suited to them. In Maths we will
move on to learning about fractions; specifically halves and quarters.
The children will enjoy art, music and dance. We will be linking our art lessons to our
topic of toys and include some model making. Children will also learn about the
scientific properties of toys and work in teams to design and create their own.

In P.E. P1 will be learning about controlling objects while they are moving with
throwing, catching, rolling, dribbling etc.
